TuiNa (twee-nah)/ Oriental Bodywork

50 minutes: $70

TuiNa is considered part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) used in bodywork. It is used to help treat pain and/or illness, and encourage and maintain good health. Common use of TuiNa are for injuries and conditions related to the nervous system and musculoskeletal system which address specific patterns of disharmony found in the body. The main purpose is to help bring the body back into balance and harmony even though it has relaxation benefits to help promote sleep, in which it also helps to reduce stress as well. By use of specific techniques,  TuiNa can also stimulate person’s energy to be higher - thus why TuiNa is not always considered relaxation.

Oriental bodywork aims to restore and balance the flow of energy (Chi) throughout your body. It uses gentle hand and finger pressure along specific points and energy pathways (meridians) on your body to restore your body to full health. There are many forms of Oriental bodywork, but they all share a common foundation in Chinese Medicine. They simply differ in their use of specific techniques to balance your energy.

Health benefits:

TuiNa is effective in helping to balance the body. Often TuiNa included acupressure (finger pressure) points for stimulation of acupuncture points in order to harmonize the yin and yang in the body to manipulate the Qi. TuiNa helps with musculoskeletal problems. Commonly, it can include stretches that stimulate the channels in the body- usually used for self care.

Techniques used include:

Kneading, pressing, rolling, stretching, (gentle) pinching, stretching, friction, traction (of the head and/or feet) Mo Fa TuiNa (like an Abdominal massage to affect the organs Qi), pushing, scrubbing, patting, cupping, and pressing. Cupping is a great companion to the end of the massage. Please see the “Cupping” modality for more information. Please make sure to let me know if you would prefer to feel a bit more energetic as a goal or relaxed BEFORE the session starts.

Cupping Modality WITH Massage

50 minutes: $80.00
80 minutes: $130

Cupping is a a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that is a form of alternative medicine in which plastic, silicone, or glass “cups” are used on the body to create suction. Cupping helps with inflammation, relaxation, helps improve blood flow, and acts like a type of deep tissue massage. Sometimes the “cups” can be dragged along the muscle/s for a massage like effect, and can help the muscle release tension. The use of silicon cups or plastic suction cups (used with a pump) are used more frequently at Kind Massage, LLC.

Please note that round marks varying in color can be left behind on the body, these are NOT permanent and are not considered bruises. Some marks may appear to have different colors, and represent the amount of blood or Qi stagnation on the body that has been released. You may consider to NOT have the cupping modality performed if you have a special occasion to attend to within 1-14 days. Every body is different, and the time it takes for any marks or color to go away depends greatly upon each individual.

Cupping is widely used mainly on the back, arms, or legs and is generally painless during and after. Cups are generally left on for about 10 minutes or so.

Gua Sha (add on to Tui Na and combination massage)

50 minutes: $75.

Gua Sha means “scrape away the illness” in Chinese. Gua Sha is part of Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) used to address Sha syndrome -any disease caused by like weather leading to blockages in the meridians that manifest such as: chilliness, fever, distention, body pain, vomiting or diarrhea or rigidity and numbness of the hands or feet, or “cold” symptoms in TCM. (Chinese-English Medical Dictionary, 1988) Gua Sha  is best for SHA syndromes that manifest as pain, fatigue, and constriction.

Gua Sha can create similar effects to deep tissue massage. Other benefits include: Removes toxins, relieves pain and stiffness, increase circulation and decrease stagnation, increases range of motion (ROM), allows for free flow of Chi (which causes a reduction in pain). Gua Sha creates a vacuum in the deeper layers of tissue which sucks fluids to the skin surface, which can bring up a (temporary) rash / releasing the “pathogen” in TCM. (Not to be confused with the western medical term pathogen)

Gua Sha can be used in the Tui Na and Combination massage modalities as a part of TCM. Please request ahead of time to provide sufficient notice as well as to read and sign the consent form.

CranioSacral Therapy

60 minutes: $70.

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique that is effective in releasing neck pain, back pain, and mental stress (among other things). It does this by optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine (to sacral) and around the skull. Developed by osteopathic physician & researcher John E. Upledger, DO, OMM. This therapy provides a very soothing and relaxing healing experience.

CranialSacral Therapy in my opinion is best described as used for resetting the body to get out of negative physical feedback cycles/loops. " (CST) is a light touch approach that can create dramatic improvements in your life, releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction, and to improve whole-body health and performance."

(Upledger Institute, 2016-2023)

Reflexology

50 minutes: $70

Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet and ears. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.

*Modality also can be incorporated into regular pricing for massage upon request as am "Add on".

*Price listed is as a stand alone massage.

Acupressure

Acupressure is based on one the most ancient principles of healing - that simply touching a specific point on the body will release stress and improve health in the body. In an acupressure session, I apply firm pressure directly to these “points” on your body, which relieves your muscle tension and improves your circulation. This simple and powerful technique has been shown to be very effective in treating headaches, backaches, and even insomnia.

*Price is incorporated with regular massage price upon request.

* As a stand alone, cost is the same: $70.

Auricular Therapy

5 minutes: $5.00

Auricular (ear) Therapy is the use of (natural Vaccaria) ear seeds on acupressure/acupunture points on the ear.

*As an add on to massage therapy.
